Skye Evans Named Assistant Swim Coach

ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis University swimming and diving head coach Ryan McCoy has announced the hiring of Skye Evans as assistant coach. Evans will begin her duties on June 1.

"I am very excited that Skye will be joining our program as the assistant swimming coach," McCoy said. "She will provide a unique energy for our group and is a great fit for the hunger our team has to continue to develop and perform in the Atlantic 10. Skye has made it very clear that coaching is her passion, and I am very confident that she will be a great motivator and will provide the perspective necessary for our student-athletes to develop as great competitors and great young adults."

"It's an honor to join such an incredible, tradition-rich institution," Evans said. "I am grateful to head coach Ryan McCoy and Director of Athletics Chris May for their trust and confidence in me. I can't wait to hit the ground running and get to work with our student-athletes."

Evans arrives at Saint Louis following two seasons as a graduate assistant for the Ohio University women's team. Specializing in distance and mid-distance freestyle, individual medley and breaststroke events, she helped guide Bobcat swimmers to two Mid-American Conference team runner-up finishes, 10 MAC individual championships, 19 school records, nine U.S. Open qualifications, three NCAA Championships qualifications (including an All-American) and one U.S. Nationals qualification.

Evans' experience also includes two years as a masters coach for the Bobcat Swim Club in Athens, Ohio, a stint with the Southern Utah Swimming Association in Washington, Utah, and a decade as a swim instructor, teaching individuals privately and working with various companies.

Evans holds a Bachelor of Science degree in exercise science from Utah Tech University, where she served three years as student manager for the Trailblazers' women's swimming and diving team, and a Master of Science degree in coaching education from Ohio University.
