The Billikens, ranked No. 4 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, are coming off a convincing 4-0 victory over Seattle in Thursday's season opener. SLU, which had goals from four different players, posted the most goals in a season opener since an 8-0 win over UMSL in 2004.

SMU, which checked in at No. 15 in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, defeated Stetson 3-1 in its season opener. Noah Holmstrøm was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List and United Soccer Coaches Defenders to Watch. Stephan Soghomonian was named to the ACC Preseason Watch List and was also included in the United Soccer Coaches Forwards to Watch.

1 // In Thursday's season-opening win against Seattle, Tanner Anderson, Guilherme Gomes, Jackson Delkus and Andrew Heckenlaible accounted for the Billikens' four goals, with Heckenlaible adding an assist. Alander Soares and Nick Schramm also recorded assists in the victory.

2 // Tanner Anderson, who opened the scoring for the Billikens Thursday against Seattle, leads all active Billikens in career goals (13) and points (29).

3 // Saint Louis is unbeaten in its last 15 games (9-0-6) at Hermann Stadium dating back to last season and has not lost a regular-season home game since 2022. SLU is 37-3-19 on its home turf since 2021. 

4 // Six Billikens made their collegiate debuts in the Seattle game – Sam Kalish, Carter Knodle, Jacksen McNeal, Lucas McPartlin, Joao Pereira and Luke Ponciroli. Goalkeeper Lucas McPartlin earned the clean sheet in his first collegiate game, while defender Joao Pereira played 63 minutes on the back line in his collegiate debut.

5 // Saint Louis and SMU are continuing a long-standing rivalry. This will be the 41st meeting between the squads in a series that began in 1975. In fact, SMU is the Billikens' third-most common opponent, trailing only Indiana (49 meetings) and SIUE (42 meetings). SMU leads the all-time series 18-15-7. The Bills won last year's meeting 1-0 on a first-half goal by Andrew Heckenlaible, which snapped the Mustangs' eight-game unbeaten streak in the series.
