Doug McIlhagga was named senior associate director of athletics in April 2007 after taking on the interim duties of the position in October 2006. He is responsible for managing 14 of the Billikens' 18 sport programs, sports medicine, strength and conditioning and Billiken Media Relations. Prior to the hiring of director of athletics Chris May, McIlhagga was responsible for the department's day-to-day operations. McIlhagga began his career at the University in July 1991 when he was named sports information director. Over the next 16 years, he gradually added staff members to the office of Billiken Media Relations, which now features four full-time staffers. He was the tournament media coordinator for the 2006 Men's Soccer College Cup and served as chair of the Atlantic 10 men's soccer committee in 2006. McIlhagga also serves on the A-10 field hockey committee. McIlhagga is a graduate of the Syracuse University Newhouse School of Public Communications and holds a bachelor's degree in television/radio. He earned a master's degree in sports management from the U.S. Sports Academy. The College Sports Information Directors of America awarded the Billikens' men's soccer media guide top honors in its region nine times. The 2002 soccer guide was ranked best in the nation. McIlhagga spent 14 years working in radio as a sports director in central New York, south central Missouri and eastern Iowa. His other experience includes sports marketing and special event management. McIlhagga and his wife, Jackie, reside in St. Peters, Mo.
