The 2025-26 season is Mary Woods’ third as Saint Louis University swimming and diving’s head coach.
Woods is in her sixth year on the Saint Louis staff. She was the Billikens’ graduate assistant during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 seasons and was named assistant coach prior to the 2022-23 campaign. Woods assumed the title of interim head coach in October 2022 and was named SLU’s permanent head coach in June 2023.
In the 2024 spring semester, Woods’ Billiken women’s team achieved the highest grade point average (3.86) among all NCAA Division I swimming and diving programs, women or men. That followed a fourth-place finish (3.78) in fall 2023. Saint Louis finished seventh (3.67) among Division I men's program in fall 2024.
Woods is a 2019 graduate of DePauw University, where she studied kinesiology and psychology and was a four-year letter winner on the swim team. She specialized in the breaststroke, butterfly and sprint events, served as team captain, set a school record in the 100 IM, and was a member of the Tigers’ 200 free, 200 medley and 400 medley relay teams that established school marks. Woods also was involved in Pi Beta Phi, Student Athlete Advisory Committee, DePauw’s First-Year Mentor Program, and Relay For Life.
A native of Carmel, Indiana, Woods began swimming at age 7 and competed for Carmel Swim Club and Carmel High School. As a coach, she prioritizes relationship building with her athletes and works to cultivate success both in and out of the pool.
Woods earned a Master of Science degree in project management at SLU.
