Earned four varsity letters (first three years at Fenwick High School, senior year at Lyons), competing primarily in the 200 free and 500 free … team captain as a sophomore and junior … team MVP as a freshman and sophomore … twice earned All-America and All-State honors in the 200 free relay and 400 free relay … swam on school-record-setting relay teams at Lyons (400 free) and Fenwick (200 free) … helped Lyons to a fifth-place state finish … set nine team records with his club team, Lyons Aquatics … Lyons Township honor roll student.
