Annie Reis, J.D., became Saint Louis University’s Associate Director of Athletics for Administration in October 2019. Reis came to SLU after spending 9 1/2 years in various roles at Lindenwood University-Belleville, including her final positions as Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Senior Woman Administrator and Deputy Title IX Coordinator.
Reis serves as the athletics department’s liaison to the Department of Housing and Residential Life and oversees events and facilities, drug testing policy and procedures, and the band, cheer and dance programs. She also is the sport supervisor for the Billikens’ field hockey, men’s and women’s tennis, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and softball programs.
At Lindenwood-Belleville, Reis guided the athletics department to its 26-sport membership in the NAIA and assisted the university in gaining its first conference memberships with acceptance into the American Midwest Conference and the Mid-States Football Association. Her oversight of event and game management staff included the 2013, 2014 and 2015 National Women’s Lacrosse League Championship. Reis organized the first American Midwest Conference Summit on the NAIA Core Values in 2018, and she worked with Special Olympics Illinois to host events on campus and organize volunteer opportunities for teams and student-athletes, earning recognition as an outstanding organizational leader. For several months in 2016, Reis served as Interim Director of Athletics.
Before moving into administration, Reis became Lindenwood-Belleville’s first head women’s basketball coach. She compiled a 43-53 record at the helm, including a 20-13 mark in her third and final season. Reis coached seven United States Collegiate Athletic Association All-Americans and five USCAA Players of the Week.
Reis’ experience in higher education began at MacMurray College. She served as SWA and head coach of the women’s basketball and golf teams in addition to teaching several classes.
Prior to beginning her career in intercollegiate athletics, Reis was an associate attorney at Kozeny & McCubbin, LC, in St. Louis. She also was an associate attorney at Fendelman, Paull & Associates, LLC, and a law clerk at Holland, Groves & Schneller, LLC, both St. Louis firms.
Reis is a 2003 magna cum laude graduate of the University of Dayton with a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology. She graduated in the top 25 percent of her class from Saint Louis University School of Law in 2006 with a J.D. degree and a certificate in health law. While at SLU Law, Reis served a faculty fellowship and was a research and writing teaching assistant.
Reis was admitted to the Missouri Bar in 2006 and to the Kansas Bar and Nebraska Bar in 2008. She is a member of the American Bar Association, Women Leaders in College Sports and the Association of Title IX Administrators.
Reis and her husband, Jeff, are the parents of Aiden, Zoey and Julia.
