Ben Spurlock

Ben Spurlock is in his seventh season as an assistant coach at Saint Louis University under head coach Kent Miller.

Spurlock is instrumental in SLU's recruiting efforts. Under his guidance the Billikens have signed two Gatorade Player of the Year honorees (Taylor Paulson, Kentucky 2012/Josie Gandall, Oklahoma 2013). Spurlock also recruited the 2013 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year Danielle Rygelski.

Before coming to Saint Louis, Spurlock spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Northwood University in Midland, Mich. He oversaw on-court training, developed the team's practice and match plans and scouted opponents. Spurlock also served as recruiting coordinator and supervised the program's academic progress.

Spurlock served as an assistant coach for the Eden Volleyball Club in Eden, N.Y., and has worked camps at Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan.

As a four-year player at Ohio State, Spurlock helped the Buckeyes claim three regular-season Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association titles, win three MIVA tournament championships and reach the national semifinals in 2005, 2008 and 2009. He was a second-team All-Conference selection as a junior, and in his senior campaign he ranked second with a .429 hitting percentage and totaled 126 kills for the No. 10-ranked Buckeyes.

A native of Stow, Ohio, Spurlock graduated from Ohio State in 2009 with a degree in human ecology.
