Dr. Michael Ross

Dr. Michael Ross has served as the Billikens’ NCAA faculty athletics representative since 1990, and he also is chair of the University’s athletic advisory committee. Ross describes his role as “the institutional link between the classroom and the playing field to ensure that SLU athletics maintains its tradition of academic excellence and integrity.”
 
Ross is a professor of psychology and director of the clinical psychology doctoral program in SLU’s College of Arts and Sciences, as well as a professor of psychiatry and human behavior in the University’s School of Medicine. His responsibilities as an assistant to the Office of the Provost include student academic issues and community partnerships.
 
A fellow in the Academy of Clinical Psychology, Ross has research interests in sports psychology, ethics and professional issues in clinical psychology, and psychotherapy process and outcome. As one of the most popular teachers at SLU, Ross was awarded the Robert A. Johnson, S.J. Award for Excellence in Teaching in the College of Arts and Sciences.
 
Ross earned a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Missouri, completed an internship at Columbia-Presbyterian Medical Center in New York City, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Saint Louis University Medical Center.
