Former Illinois State swimmer Giulia Basco is in her first season as a graduate assistant for Saint Louis swimming and diving.
Basco was a four-year member of the Illinois State program. She scored in the 100 fly and 200 fly at the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in each of her four seasons, including a fifth-place performance in the 200 fly in 2025, and concluded her career as the fifth fastest in school history in both events. Basco was a member of the Redbirds’ 800 free relay team that clocked a school record, and she registered the 200 fly record for ISU’s Horton Pool.
A native of Milan, Italy, Basco received a Bachelor of Science degree in recreation and sport management in 2026. She was a four-time Illinois State Athlete Honor Roll student, a nominee for the McGinnis Distinguished Senior Award and the Recreation and Sport Management Professional Development Award, and a member of ISU’s Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
As a recruiting coordinator for College Life Italia, Basco has guided more than 50 international student-athletes through the NCAA recruiting process. She also has served as a volunteer swim coach.
