Melissa Burke joined Saint Louis University athletics in December 2025 as assistant director of athletics for compliance and NIL.
Burke brings more than a decade of collegiate athletics experience to SLU, with a background in compliance, administration and senior leadership roles. She oversees compliance operations and NIL initiatives while supporting institutional adherence to NCAA and conference regulations.
Prior to SLU, Burke spent three years at Indiana State University as an NCAA compliance assistant director. In that role, she supported day-to-day compliance operations, monitored NCAA regulations and assisted with rules education and institutional processes.
Before her time at Indiana State, Burke served in multiple roles at Chadron State College, including compliance coordinator and assistant athletic director and senior woman administrator. She led compliance meetings, supported NCAA rules education, assisted with investigations and contributed to fundraising and promotional efforts.
Earlier in her career, she worked in banking and customer service, where she handled daily transactions, compliance reviews, fraud investigations and employee training while also supporting branch communications.
A former women’s basketball student-athlete at Chadron State, Burke was inducted into the Chadron State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2021. She finished her playing career ranked among the program’s all-time leading scorers and helped lead her team to multiple postseason appearances. She also received the Clyde Bond Memorial Award, recognizing leadership, character and athletic achievement.
Melissa has a bachelor of accounting and economics, MBA and a master of science in organizational management with an emphasis in sports management all from Chadron State College.
Burke has a daughter, Anika.
