Ryan Orner

Ryan Orner was hired in July of 2012 to take of the cross country and track and field programs. In that time, his student-athletes have rewritten over half of the cross country and track and field records. 

Orner has also coached 37 all-conference honorees, including 13 individual conference champions.

    • 1st individual cross country athlete to compete at an NCAA Championship event 
  • 2 NCAA All-Regional Team honorees (Clare Fischer and Tom Ohlman - cross country)
    • The only two Xavier athletes to earn the honors
  • 4 Queen City Invitational Titles (women's cross country)
  • 2 top-10 finishes at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional (women's cross country)
    • The two 10th-place finishes are the highest in school history
  • 4th place finish at the 2016 BIG EAST Championships (women's cross country)
    • Highest finish since joining the BIG EAST 
  • USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors (women's cross country)
    • Team has earned the award every semester since the fall of 2012

  • 2012 - Assistant track and field coach at the University of Cincinnati 
  • 2007-12 - Assistant coach cross country and track and field coach at Johns Hopkins University

JOHNS HOPKINS HIGHLIGHTS

  • Coached 19 individual NCAA DIII qualifiers and 14 NCAA DIII All-Americans
  • Named 2011 Mideast Indoor Track and Field Assistant Coach of the Year by USTFCCCA
  • Helped the women's cross country team to five consecutive appearances at the NCAA Division III National Championship with three top-10 finishes
  • Helped the men's cross country team qualified for the NCAA Division III National Championship for the first time in school history in 2011
  • Helped the Blue Jays capture 11 Centennial Conference team championships between cross country and track and field

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's degree in psychology - Towson University (1999)
  • Master's degree in exercise science - McDaniel College

COLLEGE CAREER

  • Served as team captain of the Tigers' cross country team in 1999
  • Led the cross country team to a Maryland State Championship as a senior
  • Qualified for four ECAC championships and was a finalist at the America East Conference Championships in several events

  • Resides in Cincinnati with his wife, Wendy, and daughter Dylan
  • From Warwick, N.Y.

CERTIFICATIONS

  • CPR, USATF Level 1 Certification with specialty in endurance through the USTFCCCA
