Pat Kies

Pat Kies is in his second season as assistant softball coach at Saint Louis University.

Kies came to Saint Louis following two seasons as a graduate assistant coach at UMKC, where he primarily mentored hitters and outfielders and assisted in coaching infielders. In 2011, he helped guide UMKC to the Summit League regular-season title and its first appearance in the Summit League Championship since 2003. The 2011 Kangaroos set school records for wins, longest winning streak, conference wins and winning percentage. In addition, UMKC saw its team batting average improve by 20 points during Kies' tenure.

Kies served as an assistant coach with the Kansas City Zephyrs Gold ASA team from 2004 to 2009 and was the softball team manager at the University of Arkansas from 2006 to 2009. He is a 2009 graduate of Arkansas, earning a bachelor's degree in recreation with an emphasis in community sports. Kies holds a master's degree in higher education administration from UMKC.

"Pat has the desire, work ethic and skills to help our program reach a higher level," head coach Christy Connoyer said. "He has experience in all aspects of the game and is an excellent recruiter. During his collegiate coaching career, he has helped UMKC win a regular-season conference championship and contend for the Summit League tournament title. Pat's energy is immense, and I am excited to have him on board."
