Final Stats

LOUISVILLE - Saint Louis University women' soccer scored a 2-0 victory over Louisville at Cardinal Park tonight. Freshman Kelly Ferguson scored her second game winner in the last three games to back the shutout goalkeeping of Meghann Burke. With the blanking of the Cards, the Billikens posted their school-record 11th shutout of the season.

The Billikens got on the board first in the 16th minute. Senior Jenny Kehl dribbled the ball around several defenders on the right side before centering it to Ferguson. The freshman midfielder took one touch to stop the ball before drilling a 20-yard blast inside the left post to give the Bills a 1-0 lead.

The Cardinals has several dangerous forays into the Billiken defensive third, but never forced Meghann Burke into a save. UofL did give Burke a handful of work in the second half, however. In the 49th minute, the Cardinals got a deadball 30 yards from the goal. Playing the ball short across to the middle of the field, Gina Lower blasted a shot that sent Burke diving to her left for the save.

After UofL goalkeeper Meredith Miller had stopped Jamie Perry's breakaway in the 53rd minute, the Billiken sophomore got revenge with an insurance goal in the 81st minute. After stripping Lower of the ball on the right side, Perry moved the ball into the box and beat Miller on the far post. The strike was Perry's 11th of the season, matching the school record.

The Billikens (12-4-1, 5-2-1 C-USA) are back in action on Sun., Oct. 27, at Cincinnati at 11:30 a.m. (CT).
