Final Stats

St. Louis - Senior Saint Louis midfielder Erin Schwetye assisted on three goals as the Billikens blanked South Florida 4-0 this afternoon in a Conference USA women's soccer match at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. Senior midfielder Jenny Kehl added two goals and an assist as the Billikens completed a sweep of their two-game C-USA weekend homestand.

Kehl put the Bills on top with her first goal of the year at 6:36. Kehl settled a long ball from Schwetye and pumped an eight-yard shot over Bulls keeper Breck Bankester. Schwetye struck a perfect serve off a corner kick at 34:53 that found junior sweeper Anny Lucier running unmarked through the Bulls' penalty area. Lucier made no mistake with an eight-yard header to the center of an open net.

The Billikens put consistent pressure on the Bulls throughout the first half, out-shot USF 6-1 and had a 4-1 edge in corners. Bankester denied SLU freshman Christie Cigno on a 12-yard header off Lucier's serve off a dead ball in the 10th minute, and sophomore defender Ellen Gerweck pounded a 30-yard drive off the left goal post in the 43rd minute.

Saint Louis removed any drama from the match by striking again in the 51st minute. Schwetye found Kehl near the endline to the right of the USF goal. Kehl's pass across the goalmouth found Cigno charging to the far post for a four-yard volley.

Kehl notched her second goal of the game at 58:43 on a four-yard header. Sophomore defender Kara Kornfeld picked up the assist on long serve from the left flank.

Saint Louis out-shot the Bulls (3-6-0, 0-3-0) 9-4 for the match. SLU keeper Meghann Burke made four routine saves to post her sixth shutout of the season, while USF's Bankester made three stops.

The Billikens (7-3-0 overall, 3-1-0 C-USA) travel to Arizona's tournament this weekend and face Idaho State in Tucson on Fri., Oct. 4.
