Philadelphia - Saint Louis and La Salle fought to a 1-1 overtime draw this afternoon in an Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer match at McCarthy Stadium. Billiken senior midfielder Ryan Wileman notched SLU's lone tally, and senior keeper Jeff Sackman turned away a penalty shot to preserve the tie.

"The 20-5 edge in shots would indicate that our players worked hard enough to come away with a victory, but this is an extremely difficult facility to play in and not exactly conducive to our style" Billikens head coach Dan Donigan said.

All of the scoring occurred in the first half, senior midfielder Scott Golden gave the Explorers the lead in the 12th minute on a 22-yard strike with junior defender Matt Kelly assisting. The Bills tied it on a scramble in front of the La Salle goal in the 32nd minute. Senior midfielder Ryan Wileman threaded a 12-yard shot through a maze of bodies after freshman forward Kyle Patterson laid the ball back to him.

Bills senior keeper Jeff Sackman made the play of the match in the 33rd minute by stopping Josh France's penalty kick. Sackman guessed correctly and dived to the right post to make the save.

Along with the wide edge in shots, the Billikens had a 7-2 edge in corner against La Salle (6-8-4 overall, 3-3-2 A-10). Sackman made two stops, while Explorers keeper Andrew Bernhard made seven stops.

Saint Louis (8-5-2, 5-1-1) concludes the regular-season next weekend with road matches at Charlotte on Fri., Oct. 4, and at Richmond on Sun., Oct. 6.
