Box Score

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Molly Hartmann scored two first-half goals Thursday to lift Saint Louis women's soccer to a 2-1 victory over Seton Hall in the BAE Systems Fall Classic, hosted by Army.

Hartmann tallied each of her goals, the second and third of her career, off a corner kick. The Billikens (1-0) grabbed the lead in the sixth minute on a play ignited by a corner kick off the foot of junior Susan Frederickson. Senior Allison Sole settled the ball and fired a shot toward the Seton Hall goal that was turned away. However, Hartmann collected the rebound and found the back of the net from six yards out. Frederickson and Sole were credited with assists.

Seton Hall (0-1) pulled even with a goal in the ninth minute, and the score remained tied for much of the remainder of the half. But Hartmann struck again in the 37th minute with an assist from junior Ashley Hayes, who triggered the play with a corner. Similar to the first goal, Hartmann controlled a bouncing ball and buried it from about six yards away.

The game finished with a dash of drama as Seton Hall was awarded a free kick from 19 yards with 10 seconds to play. The attempt went high, though, and the Bills hung on to snap a three-game losing streak and four-game winless skid in season openers.

The Billikens face Army on Saturday. Game time is 12:30 p.m. (CT).
