Saint Louis and Missouri State battled to a 0-0 tie Sunday afternoon in the finale of the 11th Annual Toys For Tots Tournament at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
The deadlock snapped a three-game winning streak for the Billikens (3-0-1), who were aiming for the second 4-0 start in program history. Missouri State emerged with a 3-2-1 ledger.
SLU was relentless with its offensive attack. The Bills out-shot the Bears 11-6 in the first half, 8-3 in the second stanza and 8-1 in the two overtime periods for an overall 27-10 advantage. Junior midfielder Susan Frederickson fired a career-high nine shots (four on goal), eclipsing her previous high by three, while freshman defender Andrea Barklage unleashed six shots. Saint Louis also earned a 13-3 margin in corner kicks, with 11 of those corners occurring after halftime.
Freshman goalkeeper Hannah Perry was forced to make just one save in posting her third consecutive shutout. Missouri State's Jackie Jasper made nine saves.
Barklage and Perry were joined on the All-Tournament team by senior defender Lauren Olson and junior midfielder Ashley Hayes. Army, which defeated Missouri State 1-0 on Friday and Southeast Missouri State 2-0 on Sunday, was the tournament champion.
