Another Late Goal Delivers Billiken Victory

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis freshman Robbie Kristo scored late in regulation to lift the Billikens to a 1-0 victory against St. Bonaventure Sunday in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

It was the second time in as many games that Kristo delivered the game winner, as he also scored in the 88th minute in SLU's 2-1 win over Duquesne Friday. The victory moves the Billikens to 4-7-1 overall and 2-2 in the A-10. Combined with the win against Duquesne, it was the first time the Billikens have won back-to-back games this season.

"We are at a point in our season where we need results," SLU head coach Mike McGinty said. "To get two wins here at home were crucial for us from both a confidence and competitive standpoint. It is great to see the guys finding a way to win games."

Kristo's goal came at the 80:06 mark when he received a feed from William Hidalgo. Kristo generated an open look and fired past St. Bonaventure (4-7-2, 0-2-1 A-10) keeper Mitchell Mack for the game's only score.

The Billikens out-shot the Bonnies 16-12 and held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks. SLU keeper Nick Shackelford recorded seven saves in the Billikens' first shutout victory of the season.

SLU hits the road next weekend for a pair of A-10 tilts. The Billikens face Fordham in New York Oct. 21 and La Salle in Philadelphia Oct. 23.
