PHILADELPHIA - La Salle scored three unanswered goals, including a golden goal early in the second overtime, to register a 3-2 victory against Saint Louis Sunday in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action at McCarthy Stadium.
The loss halts a three-game winning streak for the Billikens, who fall to 5-8-1 overall and 3-3 in the Atlantic 10. SLU opens a three-game homestand to end the regular season next weekend at Hermann Stadium when it welcomes Dayton (Oct. 28) and Xavier (Oct. 30). La Salle improves to 5-6-4 overall and 3-0-3 in the league.
Freshman Robbie Kristo continued his strong play, scoring two first-half goals to give the Billikens a 2-0 advantage. His first came in the 13th minute when he headed home a Nick Maglasang service to open the scoring.
Kristo, the reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week, tallied again in the 36th minute, this time finishing a Kingsley Bryce pass. The goals were Kristo's third and fourth of the season, tying him for the team lead in scoring with fellow freshman Raymond Lee.
The Billikens took the 2-0 lead into halftime and led for the majority of the second half before La Salle's Kameron Teel scored twice 24 seconds apart in the 78th minute to knot the match at 2-2.
La Salle won it early in the second overtime when Jason Plumhoff buried a free kick at 101:31.
