Billikens Oust Dayton, Collect Fourth Straight Win

DAYTON, Ohio - Saint Louis clicked on all cylinders Wednesday in a 69-51 victory at Dayton in Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball action at UD Arena.

Christian Salecich poured in a season-best 11 points.

SLU shot 53.1 percent from the field and 55.6 percent from 3-point range. Conversely, Dayton hit just 33.3 percent from the floor and was held to a 14.3 (1-7) percentage from 3-point range.

It was the Billikens' (12-17, 6-9 A-10) fourth win in a row. Dayton dips to 19-11 and 7-8 in the A-10.

The Billikens return to action Saturday afternoon when they host No. 23 at Chaifetz Arena. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. The game will serve as the annual Billiken Blizzard, and fans are encouraged to wear white.

The Billikens took a 16-point lead into halftime, leading 35-16. SLU hit 58.3 from the floor in the opening stanza, compared to just 27.6 for the Flyers. The Billikens also nailed 60 percent (6-10) of their chances from long range while Dayton was held without a 3-pointer in four tries.

Kyle Cassity got things started with a trey, and a 9-0 run brought the SLU lead to 12-5. Loe had five points in that spurt on a trey and a tip-in.

McCall and Salecich each hit a pair of 3-pointers in the first half. SLU ended the opening half with another 9-0 run, capped by a reverse layin by Jordair Jett. Dayton had the ball with the shot clock off, but a strong defensive effort by the Billikens did not allow an open look as the time expired.

Dayton opened the second half on a 5-2 spurt to draw within 13 at 37-24, but that is as close to the lead as the Flyers would get as the Billikens stretched their lead into the 20s.

McCall nailed a triple and Dwayne Evans hit a basket to give SLU a 48-28 advantage. A Cory Remekun dunk and Salecich trey with 13:25 left put the Bills up 53-31. Loe gave the Billikens their biggest lead of the game, 69-43, at the 5:47 mark and SLU coasted to the 69-51 victory.
