Billikens Charge Into A-10 Semifinals

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - No. 3 seed Saint Louis overcame the loss of the doubles point to register a 4-1 victory over No. 6 Duquesne Saturday in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic 10 Conference Women's Tennis Championship at Boar's Head Sports Club.

The victory propelled the Billikens (13-5) into the A-10 Championship semifinals for the first time. Saint Louis takes on No. 2 Temple at 2:30 p.m. (CT).

After Ana Mungo and Tara Majdalani blanked Hailee Elmore and Casey Miller 8-5.

The Billikens were dominant in singles, however, winning four matches in straight sets. Hollis cruised past Noble 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4, and Nalepa gave SLU a 2-1 lead with a 6-4, 6-2 decision over Li at No. 3. Miller downed O'Sullivan 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2, and Tomalak's 6-2, 6-2 triumph over Alrissa Tobe at No. 5 secured the match for Saint Louis.

In unfinished singles tilts, Hailee Elmore and Mungo were tied at a set apiece at No. 1. Elmore won the first set 6-0, while Mungo took set two 6-3. Mia Elmore held a 7-5, 0-2 lead over Majdalani at No. 6.
