Bryce Nets Two as Bills Knock Off No. 17 South Florida

TAMPA, Fla. - Saint Louis freshman Kingsley Bryce notched a pair of goals as the Billikens registered a 2-1 victory against the 17th-ranked South Florida Bulls Friday night in men's soccer action at USF Stadium.

The victory, SLU's second over a ranked opponent, moves the Bills to 2-3-0. South Florida falls to 3-2-0. Saint Louis faces Florida Gulf Coast Sunday in Tampa in a game slated for 1 p.m. (CT).

"This was an important win for us," SLU head coach Mike McGinty said. "Last week, we felt like we played well for 70 minutes, but we ended up with a bad taste in our mouth with the way we finished. So, we challenged our guys to come out and play a full 90 minutes, and they responded. It was a great team effort, everyone stepped up and found ways to contribute."

Bryce got the Billikens on the board in the 36th minute with his first collegiate goal. Nick Maglasang started the scoring play with a free kick, and Bryce found the end of it to give SLU a 1-0 advantage.

South Florida equalized early in the second half, but Bryce helped the Bills regain the lead when he buried his second tally of the game at 54:36. Mike Roach earned the assist.

Nick Shackelford stopped seven shots for his second win in goal. A record crowd of 1,830 was in attendance at USF's new soccer stadium.
