Billikens/Bears Play to 1-1 Draw

ST. LOUIS - Saint Louis freshman Raymond Lee scored in the 67th minute as the Billikens and Missouri State played to a 1-1 draw Saturday night in front of 5,568 fans on Homecoming at Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens move to 2-4-1 on the year, while Missouri State moves to 1-4-2.

Missouri State started things off in the 12th minute on a goal by Gerard Barbero. Heath Melugin collected a loose ball in the Billikens' end and sent it up to Jordan Hoffman, who fed Barbero who slotted one just inside the far post for the game's first score.

Lee registered the equalizer in the 67th minute when he poked his team-leading third goal of the season into an open net. Jon Roeckle sent a ball into the box off a free kick, and it made its way through the defense to Lee, who put it home after being stationed near the far post.

Despite quality chances on both sides, neither team was able to put a goal away the rest of the game. In the final minutes of overtime, Missouri State had a free kick at the top of the box ring off the goalpost. SLU keeper Nick Shackelford, who made six saves, stopped the subsequent shot off the rebound.

William Hidalgo, Lee and Roeckle led the Billikens with two shots apiece.

The Billikens return to action next Saturday when they head to Drake. Game time in Des Moines, Iowa, is set for 7 p.m.
