ST. LOUIS - The Saint Louis women's soccer team will make a
substantial donation to the American Cancer Society following the Billikens'
successful "Kicks Against Breast Cancer" game Oct. 19.
The Bills donned
pink jerseys, which were put up for auction, as they took on Atlantic 10
Conference rival Saint Joseph's at Robert R. Hermann Stadium. At halftime, SLU
freshman forward Livi Logan-Wood, whose mother, Katherine, died of breast cancer,
addressed the crowd.
"We are pleased to
announce that we raised $890 from our 'Kicks Against Breast Cancer' game," head
coach Kat Mertz
said. "The money will be donated to the American Cancer Society in honor of
Livi's mother. Every pink jersey from the game was bid on."
In
a related event, several Billikens volunteered at the Making Strides Against
Breast Cancer 5K Walk in Forest Park Oct. 27.
