Five Score in Double Figures as Bills Roll by Bonnies

ST. LOUIS - Junior guard Kwamain Mitchell led five Billikens in double figures with 22 points as Saint Louis posted an 86-62 victory over St. Bonaventure Wednesday night in Atlantic 10 Conference men's basketball action at Chaifetz Arena.

The victory moves the Billikens to 17-5 overall and 5-3 in the A-10. St. Bonaventure, which entered the game in first place in the league standings, dips to 12-8, 5-3 in the league.

Mitchell's season-high-tying 22 points came on 9-of-13 shooting from the floor. He also recorded a game-high three steals. Brian Conklin scored 19 points on 6-of-6 shooting from the floor and joined the Billikens' career 1,000-point club in the process.

Mike McCall Jr. pumped in 15 points, while Jordair Jett contributed 13. Dwayne Evans posted his fourth double-double of the season (ninth of his career) with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The Billikens shot 51.0 percent from the floor and an impressive 83.9 percent from the free-throw line en route to a season-high 86 points. In addition, SLU turned the ball over just eight times.

The Billikens trailed 38-36 at halftime, but went on a 50-24 burst in the second half to take control. SLU shot a sizzling 58.6 percent from the field in the second session. SLU manufactured a 12-0 run near the start of the second half to stretch the Billiken lead to 50-44 with 13:21 remaining.

SBU brought it back to within three at 54-41 with 11:15 left, but SLU went on a 21-2 at that point and never looked back.

The Billikens return to action this Saturday, Feb. 4, when they host Dayton at Chaifetz Arena for the Billiken Blue Out.
