Billikens Fall at George Mason, 3-2

FAIRFAX, Va. – George Mason used an 87th-minute goal to defeat Saint Louis 3-2 in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action Sunday afternoon at George Mason Stadium.

The Billikens, ranked No. 8 in this week's Soccer America poll, dip to 8-3-1 overall and 1-1-1 in the league. George Mason, which is receiving votes in the NSCAA national rankings, moves to 8-2-3 and 1-1-1 in the A-10.

After George Mason went ahead 2-0 with a pair of goals in the 30th and 47th minutes, the Billikens rallied with two goals early in the second half. Manning recorded his third tally of the season when he converted a penalty kick at the 58:52 mark. It was his second PK goal of the season.

Kristo scored his league-high-tying ninth goal of the season just several minutes later. He buried a cross from Heskamp to make it a 2-2 game.

SLU played the final half of the second session a man down as Filip Pavisic was issued a red card at the 68:13 mark.

The Patriots won it with a goal at 87:02 by Taylor Washington.

Shots were even at 11 apiece, while the Billikens earned a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.

The Billikens return home for a pair of Atlantic 10 Conference matches. SLU hosts Duquesne Friday, Oct. 17, at 8 p.m. and UMass Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2 p.m. Both games are part of a doubleheader with the women's team, which will play prior to the men.
