DAYTON, Ohio – Saint Louis women's tennis tied the second-longest winning streak in program history Saturday with a 5-2 victory over Atlantic 10 Conference opponent Duquesne.
The Billikens (15-4) have won nine consecutive matches, equaling the streak compiled by the 2005-06 team. The 1996-97 Billikens own the school record of 10 straight wins.
The Bills' 15 wins are tied for the fourth most in program history. Since beginning the season 1-3, Saint Louis has won 14 of 15 matches.
SLU grabbed a 1-0 lead by winning the doubles point. Stephanie Hollis and Brooke Urzendowski prevailed at No. 1, while Aspen Cervin and Madison Cook were winners at No. 2.
In singles action, Cervin (No. 1), Natalia Yacaman (No. 3), Maria Toro (No. 5) and Cook (No. 6) were winners in straight sets.
Up next for the Billikens is the A-10 Championship, scheduled for Thursday-Sunday, April 24-27, at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio.
