The Basics
Saint Louis freshman Lennart Hein recorded the first goal of his career in a 2-0 Billiken victory against VCU in Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer action Wednesday at Hermann Stadium.
With the win, the Billikens improve to 6-5-2 overall and 2-1-2 in league play. The Billikens handed VCU its first conference loss of the year, as the Rams fall to 4-7-4 overall and 2-1-3 in the A-10.
Hein's goal came on a corner kick in the 40th minute. Joe Saad whipped the ball into the box, and Filip Pavisic deflected it back out to the top of the 18. Hein turned on it and ripped a shot through traffic that snuck inside the left post for the eventual game winner.
SLU received an insurance goal in the 54th minute on a PK. Anthony Brown was taken down in the box, and Tyler David buried the subsequent penalty kick for his first goal of the season.
It was the second consecutive shutout for the Billikens. Goalkeeper Sascha Otte now has five clean sheets on the season.
