The Basics

Saint Louis and Rhode Island played to a 1-1 draw in Kingston, R.I., Saturday night in the Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer opener for both teams.

After a scoreless first half, the Billikens got on the board quickly in the second stanza when senior forward Faik Hajderovic scored in the 51st minute. Senior midfielder David Graydon tapped it to Hajderovic who lofted a shot from the top of the box and past the URI keeper to make it 1-0 Billikens.

Rhode Island equalized in the 70th minute, and neither team was able to pull ahead in the remaining 20 minutes of regulation or during the 20-minute golden goal overtime session.

It was Hajderovic's second goal of the season … Graydon's assist was the 23rd of his career – he is second in the country among all active NCAA Division I players in career assists (second only to Hajderovic) … the series between SLU and URI moves to 8-2-2 in favor of the Billikens … Sascha Otte made five saves, the most he has recorded against an Atlantic 10 foe.
