Billikens Fall to Duquesne in A-10 Tourney

BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Saint Louis fell to Duquesne 61-55 Wednesday in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Conference Championship at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.

Saint Louis ends it season at 11-21. Duquesne (12-18) advances to face George Washington Thursday night in the second round.

Mike Crawford led the Billikens with 16 points. He also corralled six rebounds and dished out a career-high five assists.

Marcus Bartley and Davell Roby had four 3-pointers apiece en route to 12 points. Ash Yacoubou had six points and seven rebounds, while Reggie Agbeko posted a team-high nine rebounds.

The Billikens drained 10 3-pointers on a season-high 29 attempts. Duquesne, which was led by Micah Mason's 19 points, shot 44.2 percent from the field including 5-of-10 from 3-point range in the second half.

Saint Louis took a 55-54 lead with 3:44 remaining when Roby buried his third 3-pointer of the second half, but the Billikens would come up empty the rest of the way. Duquesne closed the game on a 7-0 run to post the victory.

The Billikens overcame a 12-0 run by the Dukes in the first half and held a 26-23 advantage at halftime. Five of the Billikens' first six baskets in the opening half were 3-pointers. After going down 14-6 early on, SLU erupted for a 13-0 run to take a 19-14 lead. Including in that rally were three 3-pointers.

It was Bartley's trey late in the half that gave SLU the three-point advantage at the break.

The second half saw the teams trade baskets early on. Neither side was able to build a lead of more than five points in the second half until the late run that gave Duquesne the win.

In all, the game saw 13 lead changes and eight ties.
