Billikens Register Season-High Five Goals in Rout

Game Details
Saint Louis 5, St. Bonaventure 0
Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 | 7 p.m. (CT)
St. Louis, Mo. | Hermann Stadium

The Basics
Saint Louis scored four times in the second half in a 5-0 victory over St. Bonaventure Saturday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

The Billikens improve to 7-4-3 overall and remain perfect in A-10 play with a 6-0-0 record. The Billikens could clinch the A-10 regular-season title outright tomorrow, depending on the outcome of the Fordham-Davidson match. A Fordham loss or tie would give the Billikens the title and the No. 1 seed in the A-10 Men's Soccer Championship November 10-13 in Davidson, North Carolina.

Akeem Richards scored the eventual game-winning goal in the waning seconds of the first half. The goal, his first of the season, was set up by passes from Constantin Heider and Max Karcher.

Joe Saad started the scoring string in the second half when he finished a Jair Minors pass in the 68th minute. In the 78th minute, Heider scored an unassisted tally off a free kick. Moments later, Julian Gieseke (Karcher assist) and Quayyum Murana (Saad assist) each scored for the 5-0 final.

The Billikens' five goals were a season high, as were their 26 shots. SLU yielded just two shots, neither of which were on frame. SLU keeper Ben Yeager is credited with his third shutout despite not having to make a save.
