Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 | 7 p.m. (CT)
St. Louis, Mo. | Hermann Stadium
The Basics
Fordham's Janos Loebe scored with less than a minute remaining in double overtime to lift the Rams to a 2-1 victory over the Saint Louis Billikens Saturday night at Hermann Stadium.
It was the first Atlantic 10 Conference loss of the season for the Billikens, who fall to 7-5-3 overall and 6-1-0 in the A-10. Fordham improves to 6-6-3 overall and 4-1-1 in the league.
Saint Louis and Fordham are the only two teams that can win the A-10 regular-season. The Billikens can clinch the regular-season title as early as Wednesday if Fordham loses or ties against UMass. Next Saturday, SLU can clinch with a win or tie against George Washington, or a Fordham loss or tie against St. Bonaventure.
On Saturday, Joe Saad opened the scoring with a tally in the 63rd minute, his fourth goal of the season. Anthony Brown crossed it into the box, and Grant Owens headed it back to Saad who ripped a shot from the top of the box.
Fordham equalized in the 84th minute when Cole Stevenson headed a shot that hit off the crossbar, then spun back over the goal line.
Loebe's game-winner came at 109:02 after SLU goalkeeper Ben Yeager punched clear a corner. Loebe collected the loose ball and fired from roughly 25 yards, through traffic, for the game-winning score.
