The Billikens move to 1-3-3 overall, while VCU goes to 2-5-1.
The Billikens were aggressive from the beginning, starting with a Saadiq Mohammed chance in the fifth minute that VCU's Pierre Gardan made a nice save on.
SLU got on the board in the 18th minute when Constantin Heider scored directly off a corner kick. He curled the ball in for his first collegiate goal and gave the Billikens the 1-0 early advantage.
