The Basics
Wisconsin tallied a goal in each half to defeat the Saint Louis Billikens 2-0 in a nonconference men's soccer matchup Tuesday night at McClimon Soccer Complex in Madison, Wis.

The Billikens, who open Atlantic 10 Conference play on Saturday at La Salle, fall to 1-4-3 overall. Wisconsin moves to 4-2-1.

The Badgers got on the board in the 12th minute when Christopher Mueller buried a free kick from beyond the top of the box. Wisconsin made it 2-0 in the 73rd minute on a volley by Mike Catalano.

The Billikens had several strong chances but were unable to break through. Jair Hernandez and Saadiq Mohammed had great scoring chances in the second half on a corner kick but Wisconsin's defense was up to the task. Late in the second half, Grant Owens found the crossbar on a drive from the top of the box.
