The Basics
The 19th-ranked Saint Louis men's soccer team played to a 1-1 draw against Tulsa Sunday night at Hermann Stadium.

Both the Billikens and Golden Hurricane move to 1-1-1 overall with the tie.

Tulsa opened the scoring in the 19th minute when Jacob Gooden buried a Quinton Duncan cross, putting the visitors ahead 1-0.

That remained the score until the 59th minute when SLU sophomore Grant Owens netted the equalizer. He finished a perfect cross from Anthony Brown for his first career goal.

Both teams had chances late, but each defensive line was up to the task. SLU's Sascha Otte and Tulsa's Jake McGuire made three saves apiece.

Scoring Summary
TULSA – Jacob Gooden (Quinton Duncan), 19:50
SLU – Grant Owens (Anthony Brown), 58:18

Quotable
"We came out aggressive but I don't think we were as sharp as we needed to be early on," SLU head coach Mike McGinty said. "I was proud with the way we came back and scored to tie it up. At the end, it was two tired teams hanging on trying to avoid the knockout. I was proud of our effort tonight and we'll now prepare for Marquette next weekend."

Sascha Otte, Andre Rivers-Hardware, Max Karcher, Akeem Richards, Lennart Hein, Joe Saad, Leo Novaes, Constantin Heider, Quayyum Murana, Jair Minors, Anthony Brown.
