RICHMOND, Va. – Saint Louis rallied to tie the game four times in the final 10 minutes and trailed by one with less than two minutes to go, but the Billikens were never able to grab the lead and eventually fell 72-62 at Richmond Saturday in the regular-season finale.

Saint Louis finished the regular season 11-20 and 6-12 in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Billikens open play in the 2017 #A10MBB Championship on Wednesday night at PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburgh. SLU will be the No. 11 seed and will play 14th-seeded Duquesne at 7:30 p.m. (CT) in a first-round game. The game will be televised, and streamed live, on American Sports Network (ASN). The official bracket will be released later tonight.

The Billikens received a team-high 19 points from senior guard Mike Crawford. Redshirt freshman forward Elliott Welmer scored 17 points, while freshman guard Zeke Moore hit all four of his treys en route to a career-high 12 points. Junior guard Davell Roby also scored 12 points for the Billikens.

Richmond's (19-11, 13-5) T.J. Cline, who was honored with fellow seniors before the game for Senior Day, registered his second triple-double of the season with 19 points, 11 rebounds and 12 assists.

The Billikens shot better than 50 percent in the second half and finished with a 44-percent mark for the contest.

The Spiders led by as much as 12 in the first half, but SLU slowly chipped away at its deficit and pulled to within four of the lead late in the first half as Roby drained four straight free throws. Richmond took a seven-point lead, 33-26, into halftime.

Welmer sparked the Billikens in the second half, scoring 10 straight points on two treys and two dunks to bring Saint Louis within one of the lead before the first media timeout of the half.

Moore hit consecutive treys midway through the second half as SLU tied the game for the first time, 50-50, with 8:58 to go.

Crawford again tied the game at 52-all several minutes later, but as was the story of the second half, Richmond had an answer each time and never trailed in the game.

A layup by Welmer pulled SLU within one of the lead with two minutes to go, but the Spiders ended the game on a 10-1 rally to post the 10-point victory.
