ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis junior midfielder Maddie Pokorny has been named the Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer Offensive Player of the Week for the period of Aug. 21-27. It is Pokorny's first career A-10 weekly award.
Pokorny tallied a goal in each of the Billikens' two victories last week. She scored in the 74th minute to give Saint Louis a 1-0 win over Illinois State Aug. 25, collecting her third career game-winning marker. Two days later, Pokorny found the back of the net to help the Billikens defeat Arkansas State 3-2 in their first road game of the season.
Through just two weeks of the 2017 campaign, Pokorny is the third Billiken to earn an A-10 weekly award. Sophomore midfielder Evie Lavelle and freshman midfielder Olivia Petit were named co-Offensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively, Aug. 21.
At 4-0, Saint Louis has matched the program record for the best four-game start in program history. The Billikens face two road tests this week, traveling to SIUE Thursday, Aug. 31, for a 7 p.m. kickoff and to Missouri State Sunday, Sept. 3, for a 1 p.m. first whistle.
