Memphis 2, Saint Louis 1

St. Louis, Mo. (Hermann Stadium)
RECAP
Memphis' Peyton McKnatt's two first-half goals were the difference in a 2-1 Memphis victory over Saint Louis Sunday in nonconference men's soccer action at Hermann Stadium.
The Billikens, making their home debut, fall to 0-1-1 on the season. The Tigers improve to 1-0-1.
A late Billikens charge made it interesting in the final minutes. Anthony Brown scored in the 89th minutes off a ball whipped in by Brandon Santel to pull SLU to within one of the lead. However, Memphis withstood the rally and escaped with the victory.
It was the second goal in as many games for Brown, while Santel recorded his first assist in a Billiken uniform.
McKnatt opened the scoring in the 22nd minutes, then followed with another goal five minutes later.
Saint Louis out-shot Memphis 24-8 and owned a 7-2 advantage in corner kicks, but were unable to get anything by Memphis keeper Parker Lackland until Brown's tally in the 89th minute.
Saint Louis is back in action Friday (Aug. 31) when it travels to take on Louisville. Game time is 6:30 p.m. (CT).
