GAME DETAILS

Maddie Pokorny scored her fourth goal of the season in the 41st minute, and Saint Louis defeated Rhode Island 1-0 in Atlantic 10 Conference women's soccer action Thursday night at Robert R. Hermann Stadium.

Pokorny headed in a long cross from Haley Cox, who registered her first assist as a Billiken.

The Billikens, who have won four straight and six of their last seven games, improved to 8-3-1 overall and 3-0 in the A-10. Rhode Island fell to 0-11, 0-3.

SLU remained tied with Massachusetts, VCU and Fordham for first place in the A-10.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

The Pokorny-Cox scoring tandem was the Billikens' 15th different player combination on 18 assisted goals this season.

Saint Louis has outscored its opponents 22-8 this season.

The Billikens are 22-1-4 in their last 27 games at Hermann Stadium.

The shutout was SLU's seventh of the season and fifth in the last seven games. Kasey Hartmann, starting in goal for the first time in her Billiken career, stopped the only Rhode Island shot on goal and notched her first victory. Olivia Silverman was between the posts in the second half.

The Billikens set a school record with 21 corner kicks. The previous standard of 20 was established vs. Western Illinois in 1997. Saint Louis allowed Rhode Island only one corner.

SLU posted a 40-2 advantage in total shots and a 14-1 edge in shots on goal. Pokorny launched eight total shots and five shots on frame, tying her career high in both categories.

Isabel Burke (five) and Alli Klug (four) fired career highs in shots. Emma Farley (four) and Courtney Reimer (three) matched their career bests. Alyssa Seitzer and Hannah Friedrich turned in four shots apiece.

Klug, Reimer, Farley and Burke played all 90 minutes.
