A LOOK AT THE BILLIKENS
• Saint Louis opens its nine-game home schedule Sunday, Aug. 25, against Indiana State of the Missouri Valley Conference. First whistle at Robert R. Hermann Stadium is scheduled for 1 p.m.
• Sunday's game is the first women's soccer meeting between SLU and Indiana State. The Billikens own a 28-10-7 record against MVC teams.
• Saint Louis is 19-3-1 in home openers and is unbeaten (5-0-1) in its last six Hermann Stadium debuts.
• The Billikens are 26-1-4 in their last 31 games at Hermann Stadium, a stretch that dates to the final home game of the 2015 campaign.
• Indiana State is the first of three Missouri Valley Conference opponents on the 2019 Saint Louis schedule. The Billikens host Drake Sept. 1 and travel to Missouri State Sept. 18.
• After winning Atlantic 10 Conference regular-season and tournament titles and posting a school-record 18 wins a year ago, the Billikens were selected to finish atop the league again in the A-10 head coaches' preseason poll. Seven starters and 10 additional players are back from SLU's 2018 team.
• Senior defender Alli Klug appears on the MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List for a second straight season. Klug also is one of four Billikens on the A-10 preseason All-Conference team, joining senior goalkeeper Mary Niehaus, senior midfielder Courtney Reimer and sophomore forward Hannah Friedrich.
• SLU is the only A-10 team to appear in the "Also Receiving Votes" section of the United Soccer Coaches preseason national poll. The Billikens totaled eight points.
• Saint Louis will host the semifinals and final of the 2019 Atlantic 10 Conference Championship Friday and Sunday, Nov. 8 and 10. Four first-round games will be played on the home fields of the top four teams in the final regular-season standings, with the winners advancing to SLU's Robert R. Hermann Stadium.
A LOOK AT THE SYCAMORES
• Indiana State was 6-9-3 overall and 0-6-1 in the MVC in 2018.
• Junior midfielder/defender Danielle Varner was selected to the All-Conference second team.
• Indiana State's top returning scorers are senior midfielder Katie Sidloski (4G, 4A), junior forward Alina Steffen (4G) and sophomore midfielder Sidney Ewing (3G, 2A).
• Senior Hannah Sullivan returns after playing every minute in goal in 2018.
