THE BASICS
• Gabbie Kowalik hit her first home run of the season Sunday in Saint Louis' 9-2 loss to Texas-San Antonio on the final day of Texas State's Bobcat Classic.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
• Saint Louis broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth inning. Kat Lane doubled with one out, and with two away, Kowalik went deep to put the Billikens on top 2-0.
• UTSA answered with five runs in the bottom of the fifth and added four tallies in the sixth.
 
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Sadie Wise doubled and singled.
• Kelsey Etling doubled, while Alyssa Chavez and Kayla Swiderski had a single apiece.
• Kaylea Chappelle started in the circle and pitched three shutout innings.
 
UP NEXT
The Billikens play five games at Chattanooga's Frost Classic Friday-Sunday, Feb. 21-23. The opponents are Saint Francis (Pa.) (two games), Chattanooga, UNLV and Miami (Ohio).
