Harbison and Billikens Roll Past UMass

Ciaja Harbison dropped 20 points for the third straight game, and Kendra Wilken contributed 17 in Saint Louis' 71-56 victory over Massachusetts Sunday afternoon.

Harbison recorded 21 points (8-14), three assists and two rebounds to lead the Billikens (15-10, 7-5 A-10), while Wilken added seven rebounds, four blocks and one assist.

Myriama Smith Traore pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, and Myia Clark tied a game best with five assists.

Julia Martinez and Jaidah Stewart each played 20 minutes off the bench, with Martinez tallying seven rebounds and four assists and Stewart recording eight points and two rebounds.

Hampton Leidel led the Minutewomen (16-10, 6-7 A-10) with 18 points, along with three rebounds and three assists. Sam Breen pulled down a team-high nine rebounds, while Vashnie Perry dished out five assists.

The Billikens tied a season-high with 17 assists in the game, and they out-rebounded UMass 43-29.

Saint Louis began the game connecting on seven of its first nine shots, but four Billikens turnovers led to 10 points for UMass and an 18-18 score at the end of one.

Harbison scored 14 of her total points in the first half of play, including capping a 10-0 SLU run putting the Billikens ahead 39-26. A late 3-pointer from the Minutewomen moved the score to 39-29 at the break.

It was all Saint Louis in the third quarter, including four different players finding the scoring column in a 16-0 Billikens run. SLU held its biggest lead of the game at 59-35 (24 points), before a UMass trey broke the streak.

The Minutewomen outscored SLU 18-10 in the final period, but the Billikens came away with the 71-56 victory.

Saint Louis will welcome local elementary students for its 10th Annual Billiken Books and Basketball Wednesday, Feb. 19, against Fordham. Tip off is set for 11 a.m., and the game will be streamed to ESPN+.
