• Saint Louis scored first, but Villanova took over from there, defeating SLU 16-1 Sunday afternoon in Port Charlotte, Fla.
• The Billikens fell to 6-4 on the season, while Villanova improved to 5-4.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Jake Garella got the scoring started, driving in Cole Smith in the top of the second inning and putting the Billikens on top 1-0.
• Villanova answered with five in its half of the second, then adding four in the fifth, six in the sixth and one in the eighth.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES

• Smith went 1-for-3 with the lone Billiken run scored.
• Garella drove in Smith, finishing 1-for-3 on the afternoon.
• Corrigan Bartlett, Kyle Fitzgerald, Ryan Hernandez and Drew Buhr each collected a hit for the Billikens.
• Reid Hendrickson and Lukas Barry each tossed a scoreless inning of relief and struck out one.
