THE BASICS
• Saint Louis opened its 2020 home schedule with a bang Wednesday, sweeping Purdue Fort Wayne 4-3 and 7-1 at the Billiken Sports Center.
• Kaylea Chappelle and Chloe Wendling notched complete-game victories in the circle, and the Billikens hit five home runs in the twinbill.
• The win in game one was Christy Connoyer's 250th victory as the Billikens' head coach.

GAME 1 – HOW IT HAPPENED
• Purdue Fort Wayne took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
• Saint Louis cut the margin in half on Gabbie Kowalik's third-inning sacrifice fly.
• Sadie Wise cracked her third home run of the season, a three-run shot, in the fifth to put the Billikens in front 4-2.
• PFW tallied once in the seventh and had the tying run aboard, but Chappelle recorded the final out before further damage could be done.

GAME 1 – BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Chappelle picked up her fourth win. She allowed just one earned run, five hits and one walk while striking out four.
• Kylie Hess was 3-for-3 and scored twice.
• Kowalik singled twice, and Kristi Stevenson had a single.

GAME 2 – HOW IT HAPPENED
• SLU struck for three runs in the first. Wise led off with her fourth homer of the season, and three batters later, Maria Connell went deep for a second time this year with a two-run blast.
• Kelsey Etling's third-inning leadoff home run, her second, made it 4-0 Bills.
• PFW scored a run in the fifth, but Saint Louis answered in the bottom of the frame. This time it was Stevenson clearing the fence with a runner on, her first round-tripper of the season.
• The Billikens finished the scoring on Connell's RBI single in the sixth.
