Flowers’ Big Night Powers Billikens Past Bonnies

THE BASICS
• Brooke Flowers collected her 12th-career double-double and second in as many games, leading Saint Louis to an Atlantic 10 Conference victory over St. Bonaventure Friday evening in Olean, N.Y.
• Flowers' 19 points led three Billikens in double figures.
• Saint Louis held the Bonnies scoreless for a streak of 8:50 in the first half, allowing the Billikens to take a lead they'd never look back on.
• SLU improved to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in conference play. The Bonnies fell to 2-9, 1-7.

FIRST QUARTER
• After going down 7-3 early, the Billikens used a 10-0 run to take a six-point advantage.
• SLU held the Bonnies scoreless for the last 6:52 of the quarter.

SECOND QUARTER
• The Billikens kept their first quarter run going, scoring the first four points and taking a 17-7 lead.
• St. Bonaventure broke a scoreless streak of 8:50 with a trey, which Rachel Kent then promptly answered with a 3-pointer of her own on the next possession, bringing the score to 20-10.
• A 13-5 spurt for the Billikens gave them a 16-point advantage over SBU at the end of the first half.

THIRD QUARTER
• The two teams traded buckets to begin the half, but the Billikens were able to take a 21-point lead at 47-26 with Kent's second trey of the game.
• St. Bonaventure answered with a few baskets of its own, pulling within 17 at 52-35 with 1:20 left.
Julia Martinez beat the buzzer with a layup to give SLU a 54-35 lead at the break.

FOURTH QUARTER
• St. Bonaventure pulled within 16 with 2:30 left, but the Billikens answered with a bucket and free throw to give them a 64-45 lead.
• Senior Lauryn Hughes netted her first point of the season, knocking down a free throw with 0:25 left.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Flowers snagged season highs of 19 points and six blocks, in addition to her 14 rebounds.
• The Billikens earned a 48-31 advantage on the boards.
Ciaja Harbison dished out a season-high seven assists, along with 11 points.
Rachel Kent was second on the Billikens with 12 points.
Myriama Smith Traore neared a double-double, posting eight and nine rebounds.
• Martinez added five points and eight rebounds.

UP NEXT
The Billikens are next scheduled to visit La Salle Friday, Feb. 5, at 5 p.m. (CST).
