Billikens Power Past Rams for Fifth Straight Win

MATCH DETAILS
• After dropping the first set, Saint Louis took the next three and defeated Rhode Island 3-1 in an Atlantic 10 Conference match Friday night at Chaifetz Pavilion.
• The win marked the Billikens' fifth in a row and improved their record to 10-6 on the year and 3-0 in A-10 play. Rhode Island dropped to 8-10, 0-3.
• Set one saw 10 tie scores and six lead changes, but URI came out on top 25-22. Maya Taylor recorded nine of her match-high 21 kills in the frame.
• Following a 9-9 tie in game two, the Billikens went on an 8-1 run to take control of the frame. Taylor, Delaney Rice and Jillian Mattingly each recorded four kills in the set, leading SLU to a 25-18 win.
• The Billikens dominated the Rams to begin the third set, scoring the first 10 points and jumping out to a 17-4 lead. URI fought back, getting back within four, but SLU finished off the Rams 25-20.
• A back-and-forth fourth set concluded with SLU winning the game 26-24 and the match 3-1. The frame had 11 tie scores and six lead changes. SLU trailed 24-22 late but rattled off four-straight points for the victory.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Taylor tallied her fourth double-double on the season, with 21 kills and 12 digs.
• Mattingly hit for a .458 hitting percentage, tallying 12 kills and a match-best seven blocks.
• Carlie Rodgers posted a match-high 30 digs.
• Emily Henken recorded nine kills, four service aces and eight digs.
