ST. LOUIS – Saint Louis scored early in each half to post a 2-0 victory over the Dayton Flyers in the Atlantic 10 Conference men's soccer opener on Saturday at Hermann Stadium.
The Billikens improve to 6-2 overall (1-0 in the A-10) with their second straight win. Dayton dips to 0-3.
Saint Louis scored in the third minute on a goal by John Klein. Mason Leeth raced up the right side and sent a ball into the box that Klein dove for and headed into the back of the net for the 1-0 Billiken lead.
SLU got an insurance goal just minutes into the second half when Christian Buendia rifled a loose ball into the left side of the net, making it 2-0 SLU. Klein assisted on the play when he whipped a service into the box that deflected right to Buendia.
Patrick Schulte made two saves for his second straight shutout.
