MATCH DETAILS
• Maya Taylor posted a season-high 25 kills, Delaney Rice hit for a .529 attack percentage and Saint Louis came back from a 2-1 deficit to defeat VCU 3-2 in five sets in a nonconference battle Saturday afternoon at Chaifetz Pavilion.
• SLU improved to 8-8 on the year, while VCU moved to 11-4.
• The Billikens fought off two set points to tie the game at 24-24 in game one, but VCU swiped the final two points and took the set 26-24.
• SLU controlled set two from the start, holding leads at 12-6 and 14-7, and the Billikens ended the frame on a 5-2 run, winning the game 25-19.
• A back-and-forth third set saw a tie score as late as 21-21, but the Rams came away with four of the last five points to win the game 25-22.
• A 6-0 scoring run put SLU up 18-13 in set four, and Taylor recorded kills on the final four points in the frame, leading SLU to a 25-17 victory.
• After an 8-1 spurt put SLU up 13-9 in set five, VCU answered with a 4-0 run to tie the game at 13-13. The Billikens took the last two points in the set, including an Emily Henken service ace for match point.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Taylor finished one kill shy of her career high, collecting 25 kills on a .267 hitting percentage, while also posting nine digs, three service aces and four assists.
• Rice tallied a career-high 12 kills on a match-best .529 hitting percentage, in addition to three blocks.
• Kennedy Cordia surpassed her season high with 53 assists in the match. She posted her team-leading eighth double-double, adding 12 digs, three blocks and one service ace on the afternoon.
• Henken increased her conference-leading service ace total to 26 with four in the match. The freshman tied a career best with 14 kills, while also collecting eight digs.
• Emily Imo finished with a match-high 24 digs, in addition to recording five assists and one service ace.
• Juliana Phillips tallied 11 kills on her senior day, including five in the fourth set.
