GAME DETAILS
• Saint Louis came up short Wednesday afternoon against SIUE, falling 6-1 at Billiken Sports Center.
• The Billikens moved to 6-14 on the season, while SIUE went to 8-9.
SCORING
• SIUE scored five runs in the top of the seventh, with all of them coming via the home run. Brady Bunten's solo shot, first, put the Cougars up 1-0. Avery Owusu-Asiedu struck out swinging with two outs but reached on a passed ball. Brett Johnson connected on a grand slam later in the inning, putting SIUE up 5-0.
• Raul Elguezabal hit a solo home run for the Cougars in the top of the eighth inning.
• The Billikens got one run back, scoring on a wild pitch in their half of the eighth.
BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Jake Garella extended his hitting streak to eight games, reaching base three times on the afternoon, going 2-3 with one walk. He has now tallied two hits in four consecutive games.
• Matt Happ doubled.
• Billiken starter Mark Finkelnburg went 6.2 innings, allowing six hits and one earned run, while striking out six SIUE batters.
