Volleyball Battles but Falls to Dayton in Five Sets

MATCH DETAILS
• Saint Louis took a 2-1 lead in the match, but the conference-leading Dayton Flyers snagged the final two frames and won the Atlantic 10 battle, 3-2, Saturday evening in Dayton, Ohio.
• SLU moved to 8-10 on the season and 6-4 in league play, while Dayton went to 11-1, 8-1.
• After jumping out to a 12-2 lead, Dayton stayed ahead and took the first set 25-11.
• A three-point Flyer advantage was the largest lead for either team in a thrilling back-and-forth second set. On their seventh set point, the Billikens came away with the victory in the frame, 31-29. SLU handed Dayton its first set loss in 22 frames, dating back to Feb. 26 against Duquesne.
• SLU held a four-point lead at 18-14 in set three, and the Billikens pushed their advantage to 21-18. Following a UD point, SLU went on to take the final four points in the frame and take a 2-1 lead in the match.
• An 8-0 run by the Flyers put them up 22-10 in the fourth set, and Dayton went on to win the game 25-14.
• The Billikens fought off a 10-5 deficit in set five, pulling within two at 11-9, but UD took the next four points and won the match, 3-2.

BILLIKEN NOTABLES
• Sara Daniels recorded a career-high 11 blocks in the contest, while also adding six kills and three digs.
• Emily Henken posted a double-double, tallying 12 kills and 12 digs.
• Senior Juliana Phillips also had 12 kills, along with four blocks, three digs and one service ace.
• Jillian Mattingly collected a match-best .538 hitting percentage, recording seven kills.
